New Zealand Safety Engineering Society

About us

Founded in 2014 the New Zealand Society for Engineering Safety (NZSES) is a Technical Group of Engineering New Zealand.

The Society’s purpose is to introduce engineering principles and methods to the health and safety process, and to introduce health and safety to the engineering process.

Members of the NZSES believe that as designers, project managers and reviewers of plant, substances and structures, engineers are in a pivotal position to influence health and safety in the workplace.

Membership

The NZSES helps engineers and others share expertise and experience in health and safety matters by providing:

  • Access to online resources (some resources are for members only)

  • Webinars and other events (recordings of past events available to members only)

  • A newsletter for members

  • The latest industry news/updates on legislative changes

This society represents the engineering profession with bodies such as WorkSafe New Zealand and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, to give the profession a voice in the development of regulations and practice guidance which affect engineers. They support feedback from the NZSES membership and wider Engineering New Zealand on documents out for consultation and assist members by helping to organise their personal feedback.
